Before I start this one, if you’re an avid reader of SFF and think I’ve been neglecting you lately, I’m sorry.
Planning Saratoga International Flavorfeast this year has been crazier than ever, and I want to make sure it’s THE BEST event it can be. So please don’t take it personally. I still love you all.
Now that I got that off my chest, let’s talk about Tim’s birthday.
He’s a lover of all picture taking, clearly. ^^^^
My man candy had a birthday last week, and I wanted to make it as special as possible, which of course means we went out to eat as much as we could. We’ll get to our dinner at another time, but first things first… let’s talk about lunch.
After much thought, I knew where I wanted to take him for afternoon eats – Comfort Kitchen.
See, I’ve loved Comfort Kitchen since the beginning, and as the menu has evolved over time, some of my original favorites are still on there, including the phenomenal veggie burger which is like my favorite thing ever, the traditional comfort burger, which is also basically like my favorite thing ever, and of course… the tots. Because where would I be in life without those perfectly fried pillows of potatoey goodness?
With that said, sometimes you’ve gotta reach for the new menu items, and that’s exactly what I was about to do until Tim decided he wanted the same thing as I did, the Falafel Tacos.
You see, I’ve been eyeing these tacos since they first appeared on the menu, and it was finally my chance to get them. But I have this rule where I never order the same exact thing as the person I’m eating with, and since it was his birthday, I let him have it. Not without a few photos first, though!
The falafel tacos were everything I expected them to be and more.
The flour tortillas were slightly toasted so that they had a crunch to them, but held up to the housemade falafel that was generously portioned out between three tacos.
Definitely a good sized meal for someone who’s SUPER hungry for lunch, or looking for an adequate dinner.
As I had predicted, they’re a must try.
I enjoyed the wedge salad, specifically because I just had to have the housemade bacon with their bleu cheese.
It was awesome.
Healthy? Probably not. Okay, definitely not. But it was a treat yoself kind of day!
After all of that, it was time for a real treat. And there’s no better treat at Comfort Kitchen than their S’mores in a Jar.
It almost doesn’t look like real life, right? That’s housemade marshmallow on top there. UNBELIEVABLE.
And underneath that luscious marshmallow are some graham cracker crumbs and chocolate pudding. So indulgent, but not overly rich, actually not at all.
The chocolate pudding tasted like it may have been made with dark chocolate, which really allowed for the sweetness of the marshmallow to shine. Even if you just visit Comfort Kitchen for this, you’ll be singing their praises for weeks.
Comfort Kitchen is located at 454 Broadway in Saratoga Springs. They use local and seasonal produce, and housemade ingredients.
