So many Iron Chef competitions, so little time. Next Saturday, October 6th, will mark the Farmers Markets 5th annual Iron Chef Challenge. This showdown will showcase two of Saratoga’s greatest culinary talents, Max London of Max London’s and John Ireland of Panza’s.
This year, to appeal to the culinary preferences of its customers, the market is asking that the chefs prepare three dishes: meat-centered, vegan and a third plate of their own creation. The competition will begin at 9:30am, where the chefs will be given a basket of “mystery ingredients” from the market and also $30 to buy additional market items during a brief shopping period. Each chef will have an hour of cooking time and the winner will be announced shortly before 11:30. Chefs are allowed to bring butter, flour, oil, salt, pepper and three other ingredients of their own choice.
Additionally, I’m super excited to announce that I will be one of three judges for the competition!! Joining me will be Arielle Landsberg, president of Slow Food Saratoga Region and Daniel Berman, writer of Albany’s fussylittleblog. The master of ceremonies for the event will be Dave Pedinotti, chef and owner of Mouzon House.
If you skip this event, you’ll be missing out for a couple reasons. First – this is a free event so why not drop by and watch the competition? Second – you can meet ME! And seriously, who would pass up that opportunity?
Right… so get your butt down to the Farmers Market this Saturday to watch the 5th annual Iron Chef Challenge and find out who will reign supreme!
