Who doesn’t like a nice pizza pie on Friday to kick off the weekend and celebrate the end of the work week? Due to the fact that I was already in Ballston Spa in combination with the recommendations I’ve gotten from my brother, we decided to go to Pizza Works in Ballston Spa.
Hungry stomachs means we ordered more food than necessary, but that’s to be expected when you go out to dinner with my family. We all have eyes bigger than our stomachs. Unfortunately that has never stopped me from stuffing my face.
We started out with some of their cheesy herb bread sticks.
As you can see, the bread is dusted with herbs and sesame seeds and stuffed with my favorite thing in the world, cheese. These were decent but I don’t think the sesame seeds belonged and I think it could have used more herbs and seasonings to give it a little more flavor.
Moving on to the main event, let’s chat about the pizza. Obviously I’m a pizza lover, which is why I’ve written about Publik House and Harvest and Hearth. I could eat it every other day if that was acceptable. I like the thinner crust, crispy pizzas with a rich cheese flavor.
Here’s the Pie-Casso, a white pizza with broccoli, tomato and ricotta:
White garlic pizza:
In terms of the texture, this pizza has got it going on. It’s thin and crispy and makes you feel like you’re not actually eating a whole slice of pizza, which eventually makes you eat a lot, and then if you’re like me, makes you feel bad about yourself.
The Pie-Casso was definitely the star of this meal and had a great balance of flavors. The ricotta added a nice moisture to the pizza which the white garlic one didn’t have.
Here are my recommendations: The white pizza could have been a little cheesier and I definitely would have liked a stronger hint of garlic. For being a white pizza, it was kind of dry. Next time I order this pizza, I’ll probably ask for extra garlic so that I can fend off vampires and have the whole pizza to myself.
Pizza Works has locations in Ballston Spa, Saratoga and Burnt Hills which is convenient if you live from Exit 14-11 off of the Northway. If you are a thin and crispy fan, definitely give this one a try and let me know what you think!

I like Pizza Works in Ballston Spa, but I hate the one in Saratoga. Since they are the same name you would expect the same pizza, but not even close.
I think it’s so interesting that there can be two of the same restaurants in two different locations and they offer totally different experiences. I guess that happens often though, it’s similar to the west side stadium and the broadway stadium.
We like Pizza Works but usually get basic pizzas because my kids are young and that’s what they eat. We also like the pizza at Front Street Deli. They have lots of yummy food and would be another great place for you to review.
I love Front Street Deli! It’s the Spring Street of Ballston Spa, but a few notches better. There’s so many places in Ballston Spa that I have yet to explore but I plan to very soon!
