Ever since the first time I tried the Bloody Mary at The Local, I fell in love. The house-made mix is literally the best, with a heavy hand in the cracked peppercorns and horseradish. Frankly, it’s the type of mary that’ll knock anyone’s hangover out of their system.
So my usual order at The Local begins with a coffee and a Bloody Mary, but since they’ve changed up their menu, I’ve been all over the place with my food choices.
One thing I know for certain… I love the homefries. I love those little crispy pillows of goodness, and so they always have to be present with my order.
Yesterday, however, I went without the homefries for the first time I think EVER (and instead stole from other plates on the table) and ordered the skillet special.
This skillet included grilled onions, green peppers, red peppers, Irish sausage and scrambled eggs topped with a hefty portion of cheddar cheese.
Plus it comes in this cute little cast iron skillet.
I’ll be honest – I really am not a scrambled eggs fan these days. I’m all about that runny yolk and I can’t deny it.
But in this instance, scrambled eggs are key – and they work really well in this dish. I’ve been to The Local twice when this particular skillet “special” was exactly this, so I’d venture to guess they don’t switch it up too often.
So if you’re looking for a hangover cure or you’re just really hungry from some food/drink to kick off your Sunday Funday, get to The Local and get your eat on.
