My Holiday Weekend: In Photos

December 28, 2016

I can’t believe Christmas has come and gone. I was a busy little bee making the feast of the seven fishes for my family on Christmas Eve, I hardly got to take any photos of the meal. I did manage to get one of the scallops, though (see below).

In case you’re wondering what I made, I decided to cook from my BFF’s cookbooks, The Barefoot Contessa.

We started with her crab cakes (which were PHENOMENAL), a tuna ceviche that I threw together myself, and shrimp scampi.

Next, I made a course of pan seared scallops over a bed of a celery root and potato puree. YAAAASSS.

Finally, we finished with a fish stew that included halibut, cod, and mussels.

To say we BARELY made it to the end would be an understatement.

I was full until noon on Christmas day. But it was so worth it.

After all of those shenanigans, I headed to central NY to spend a few days with Tim’s fam. I managed to get myself into a Syracuse game (vs. Cornell who they destroyed) as well as to Skaneateles where I had some of the best french onion soup I’ve ever tasted at Blue Water Grill.

I also got to drink some of the best IPA in America, made right in Auburn, NY.

All in all, it was a pretty exceptional week of eating, drinking and spending quality time with family! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!

XOXO
